The Corsair is a media company brought to you by the students of Santa Monica College.

Carolyn first joined the Corsair as a Staff Writer during the Spring 2020 Semester. She was quickly promoted to Digital Editor where in addition to her written work, Carolyn took lead in revamping the Corsair’s website and online presence as their digital audience grew. In addition to the many articles Carolyn wrote for the Corsair, she also became one of the lead illustrators for the publication, receiving recognition for her work from the Journalism Association of Community Colleges.

In Fall 2020, Carolyn was promoted to Managing Editor for the Corsair, where she worked to lead the team with Editor-in-Chief, Jack Hughes. The two worked very tirelessly to elevate the publication in its new online & remote environment. Luckily the staff was filled with eager student journalists, ready to learn, and even more excited about being a part of a news publication during a Presidential Election.

In December 2020, Carolyn was offered the position of Editor-in-Chief for the Spring 2021 semester. She held the position until June 2021.

Under Carolyn’s leadership the Corsair was named a finalists for Online and Newspaper for the Associated Collegiate Press Pacemaker Awards. The print publication was also named a finalist for Best Newspaper Nameplate for the College Media Association Pinnacle Awards which included the Corsair’s new logo that Carolyn had designed to help brand the Corsair with a Santa Monica influence.
